14th INNA AGM 3rd March 2012

The 14th Annual INNA AGM and Conference “The Evolving World of Nephrology Nursing” was held on 3rd March 2012 in Beaumont Hospital Dublin. Although attendances were less than previous years there were over 60 delegates present. This trend is not unique to Nephrology Nursing and is in fact mirrored across all nursing specialties and is perhaps as a result of increased pressure in our health service and difficulties experienced by many in obtaining Study Leave. However in spite of this the day was very successful and we received extremely positive feedback from both delegates and corporate sponsors. Speakers on the day reflected the broad spectrum that is Nephrology Nursing and included Belfast City Hospital’s experience of Assisted APD; Symptom Burden and Health Related Quality of Life of Prevalent Haemodialysis Patients in South West Ireland and Laproscopic Nephrectomy in Living Donor Transplantations.

Each year INNA also awards an Educational/ Research Bursary Award, this years winners were:

Bernie Carew, Midland Regional Hospital, Tullamore

May Collins, Cork University Hospital, Cork

Donia George, Beaumont Hospital, Dublin

Fiona Murphy, Trinity College, Dublin

Our next educational event is entitled “Caring for the Older Renal Patient” which will be held in Tullamore on 8th November 2012.
